Sandons Kennel was established in 1985 when I purchased my first Show Quality Siberian Husky from Veleah Siberians . My husband, Bob, and I have always had pets since we were very young and that relationship continued when we married. When our daughter and I started conformation shows, we established our kennel name, Sandon (Sandee-Donna).
Our debut into the conformation and obedience world was with Siberian Huskies. Eventually, we were introduced to the Australian Shepherd breed and as times and life styles changed, we purchased our first Australian Shepherd for conformation.
Our kennel is small and will remain that way as our Aussies are a part of our family. We like to have them in our house and take them with us whenever possible.
I am an active member of the Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA) and the United States Australian Shepherd Association (USASA). On a local level, I am an active member with both the Heart of the Plains Kennel Club and the South Plains Obedience Club.
Recently I entered two new worlds with my Australian Shepherds. I belong to an organization called the Hub City Herders and am learning with my dogs how to herd sheep. The second activity is the Therapy Dog Program. Sky and I are certified with Therapy Dog Incorporated as a Therapy Team. We now visit hospitals, nursing homes and other locations that might benefit from our visits.
If we do not have an available dog for you (Siberian or Aussie), we will be happy to assist you in locating the right dog. If you have questions, we will be happy to try to answer them or direct you to someone who can when we cannot.
We hope to meet you sometime out in the show ring, obedience ring, sheep pen or local activities with our local clubs.
